Mark Webber believes Ferrari’s hiring of Kimi Raikkonen for next season is a short-term measure and will pave the way for Sebastian Vettel to join the team in the future.
Ferrari announced earlier this week former world champion Raikkonen – who won the team’s last drivers’ title in 2007 – would be returning to replace Felipe Massa.
But Webber, who himself is quitting F1 at the end of the season, believes the Finn’s appointment will just be a stop-gap until Ferrari can prise three-time world champion Vettel away from Red Bull.
‘For lots of reasons Ferrari need to be winning again in Formula 1,’ Webber told Sky Sports F1.
